The Sanctus Bells is an important part of the music at the Congregational Church of Laconia. This group of committed players rehearses each Sunday morning from 10:45 a.m. to 12 Noon and plays for church services and other events from September through June. Any 7th grader through adult who loves music and can regularly attend weekly rehearsals is invited to join this choir. If you are not able to commit to a full rehearsal schedule, substitutes are also called upon to rehearse or perform with the Sanctus Bells.
Members of the Sanctus Bell Choir have participated in the Lakes Region Handbell Festival. They have also joined with two other local handbell choirs in presenting programs of Lenten handbell music. Special events have included caroling in December to nursing homes residents and shut-ins and marching in the annual Laconia Christmas Parade. Eight ringers attended the Area I, AGEHR Bell Festival held in Orono, Maine. Over three days bell choirs from all over New England gathered to learn more about the art of ringing bells. The weekend culminated in a massed ring event which included 700 ringers.
