Sunday Worship Suspended
After prayerful consideration it has been decided to suspend worship services and cancel all church activities following Governor’s guidelines through April 3. Be looking for another News Blast for a complete listing of all the events and meetings canceled or postponed.
We will be continually providing updates on the active measures we are taking to keep our members, friends and community safe through this time. Our concern is for the well-being, spiritual and physical, of our congregation and the greater community we are called to love and serve in the name of Christ.
We will all feel the effects of this pandemic, some unfortunately more than others, so now is the time more than ever for us to be the church! There isn’t a virus that can suspend the work of God’s love through God’s people. During these extraordinary circumstances let us be open to what our extraordinary God can do through us.
We are working on the possibility of “live streaming” an abridged version of our Sunday service. The plan is to do this at the usual time of worship, Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. So, I encourage you to continue to set aside Sunday morning for a time of worship. Directions on how to access this will be sent out.
If you do not have the technology for live streaming and you feel comfortable doing so, gather together in small groups of 3-4 or as a family in your homes to pray and sing. We can make resources available for you to use in your homes.
We will get through this, in the meantime the needs of our church and community will continue. So we ask you to continue partnering with us in your financial giving. During any time that worship may be suspended you can mail your offerings into the church at
18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH 03246
The ministry of caring and sharing God’s love will still be taking place through our congregation and church staff and pastors. Many of our church members are actively involved in Got Lunch! Laconia which will be providing weekly bags of food for 500+ school kids and their families throughout the time schools are closed.
Our Caring Connection ministry is encouraging people to stay connected with our elderly and home-bound for whom this may be an especially scary and lonely period. And as pastors we will continue to respond to pastoral emergencies as will be appropriate to each circumstance.
And whether we worship together or not, make a commitment to support one another. Look out for your neighbors. Let us open our eyes and hearts to the needs of people around us who could use a little help. A meal or a visit if appropriate, or maybe a simple but meaningful phone call. There are ways to stay “connected” while not being physically the same space.
And lastly, as we will be keeping each of you in our prayers please pray for your church leadership, pastors and lay. Paula and I covet your prayers and support. We also ask for your understanding and forgiveness, decisions have been and may be made that not all may agree upon. We are in uncharted water, yet God is God and it is our desire to find the opportunities to advance the love of God’s reign even in or especially in times such as these.
Now more than ever, let us be the church I know we can be!
